Jed Sheldon ~ Home Jed Sheldon ~ About Jed Sheldon ~ Music Jed Sheldon ~ Props Jed Sheldon ~ Journal

Jed Sheldon was born in Fargo, North Dakota on a cold November day during the first blizzard of the year. He grew up in a rural setting at the end of long dirt road in a log cabin, built by his father, seven miles outside of the town limits. Jed was the youngest of four children and was given a lot of attention and loved by all the members of his family. His musical talent was discovered when he was able to play a song on the piano, by ear, that one of his older sisters was just learning to play. Because of his natural talent and his desire to entertain, Jed's family became the foundation for his success with their support of his creative endeavors.

Jed spent most of his childhood in the midst of vast, open farmland, separated only by the shelter belts the local farmers built to break the harsh winds that swept through the countryside. It is here, under the cover of a home-made fort, where Jed would sit and listen to the sounds of the world and eventually compose his first song. Not only was the countryside an inspiration to Jed, the community of Fargo had a tremendous impact on him growing up as well. Although he no longer lives in North Dakota, Jed remembers the selfless hospitality of the people who lived there. They would come together to shovel snow for each other during harsh winters, sandbag dams during spring floods and have constant potlucks to visit and just be neighborly with one another.

"The People of Fargo are honest, punctual, kind and hardworking. They do not invest much time in appearance, nice cars or other fancy things. They do not tend to question the norm or push for constant change. They tend to say hello to strangers and might stare a little if you are different but this is usually because they are curious."

Jed currently lives an urban life in San Diego, California where he spends his days writing music and performing at various local venues. Today, his inspiration comes from raising a family of his own and spending time with his wife and best friend. He is currently working on his second album to be released in 2010 and is collaborating with various artists in San Diego who are blurring the boundaries of music genres. He continues to explore new sounds everyday in his music while embracing the peace and tranquility from his childhood in Fargo.
